The King Post

The location is peaceful, and the décor has a romantic coastal feel. It’s an easy place to slip into vacation mode for a solo break, a couples’ stay, or a girls’ weekend that feels a bit like Zanzibar without leaving Nairobi. Kings Post Hotel Furnished Apartments felt like stepping into a Lamu hideaway, with warm wooden ceilings, carved Swahili-style furniture, stained-glass windows catching the afternoon light, and lanterns that look straight out of a coastal spice market. The living room is cozy and exotic, and the daybeds are so comfortable I nearly forgot this was a staycation instead of a long sabbatical. Open the balcony doors and there’s a lovely breeze with a coastal feel. I half expected someone to bring me madafu while I lounged. Everything was thoughtfully set up: a fully equipped kitchen, a nicely made bed, and Wi-Fi strong enough for streaming or work, or for pretending to work while watching Netflix. Service was excellent, friendly and quick, with just enough “pole pole” charm to make you slow down and enjoy things. They had extra towels, directions, and a morning smile covered. If you love coastal charm and soft lighting, this place can make you forget real life for a while. Just be warned, you might not want to leave. I may or may not have Googled how to move in permanently after my stay.
