The setting is a big draw, with a magnificent view of Mount Kenya over a watering hole that big wildlife visit regularly. We saw leopard, elephants, buffalo, a few kinds of antelope, and many birds. It’s a great place for a relaxing weekend, or for a longer stay as a base for hiking the lower slopes of Mt Kenya. The service was excellent. Don’t miss the nature or birding walks: the guides are extremely knowledgeable and keen to share what they know.

I visited about 3years ago, and the place was beautiful, tucked into the forest. The viewing area had some really comfortable seats. A few insects kept biting us, but I think that comes with enjoying the wild. I’ll definitely visit again and again.

The watering hole is the standout, clearly visible from the room. Buffaloes, elephants, and hyenas come through, and every now and then there’s some exciting action. Sunrise also brings a beautiful glimpse of Mt. Kenya, a lovely way to start the day. It’s a relaxed and peaceful place, ideal for an off-the-radar holiday. It’s not the usual high-tech hotel, which I actually liked.

The lodge is cosy, the staff are great, and the food was good. There’s a small but beautiful watering hole, and the staff ask which animals you’d like to see and offer to wake you if they come by. We didn’t see any animals apart from buffalo, but I’d still recommend this absolutely beautiful hotel to people visiting Kenya for the first time.

From the top of the lodge, the view of animals coming out to drink is excellent. We saw elephants, lions, and more. You can ask the staff to wake you when the animals you’re hoping to see arrive. The food was exceptional too, and the staff were super friendly. It felt like staying in the animal kingdom at Walt Disney world, except this was the real thing.
