The evening tea is always a treat, and breakfast is an amazing spread that feels like home. This was my second stay at Jua House, one of our favorite places in Shela when we visit Lamu. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are kind and resourceful, and the owners make you feel welcome.

Amani went out of his way to help us find our bearings and plan things to do, while Olivia made us feel warmly welcomed. Our four days at Jua House were relaxing and absolutely perfect. The house is beautifully decorated in authentic Swahili style and very well kept. We had a rooftop apartment with lovely views over town and a spacious rooftop lounge to use. Freshly baked bread at breakfast each morning was a special treat. I can wholeheartedly recommend Jua House.

Breakfast was fresh and delicious each morning, and we ate on the rooftop terrace with its jaw-dropping view of Shela town and the sea. Ten of us booked five rooms for four nights, and we had a magical time at the most beautiful guesthouse I've ever stayed in. Amani and the rest of the staff were cheerful and welcoming, and gave us five-star concierge help: suggesting activities and restaurants, making bookings, and even walking us to our first few appointments. I'll definitely come back one day. Can't wait to see it again 🙂

The in-house bakery's breakfast was a highlight of our nine nights at Jua house, along with afternoon tea and cake. Lamu is a lovely, peaceful island with no cars, and the beaches are fabulous. We ate well too, with fresh fish on the menu every day. Highly recommended.

The communal areas were great for reading, and everything was perfectly clean. My daughter and I had a perfect stay at Jua house. Thanks to Amani for escorting us when we needed it, and for the breakfasts, especially the homemade bread.
