We’d had some doubts after seeing mixed recent reviews, but our stay at Fig Tree turned out really well. The food was good, the rooms were clean, and the setting is fantastic. We spotted hippos across from the tents during the day, not only at night, and saw plenty of giraffes while sitting in our tent. It’s also a handy base for game drives, since you don’t have to travel far into the park to look for the big 5.

We arrived and were given a complimentary upgrade to a tent by the river, close to the hippos. The rooms and food were excellent, and the staff were attentive, welcoming, and helpful throughout. Their hospitality was so warm. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay, and the safari was awesome too. I’d highly recommend it.

The tents were marvelous, and everything else was great. The one frustration was dinner service: our server kept hovering around the table, so it was hard to just enjoy the meal. The food also felt very Americanized.

Hippos playing right in front of my tent, great food, and amazing staff. I only wish the water they provide came in sealed bottles, and that the in-room safe had batteries. 😎

The staff were some of the kindest and most helpful people, and the food was superb. It’s a beautiful place right on the river inside the park. One of the nicest spots I’ve stayed, truly incredible. 12/10.
