Voi Wildlife Lodge

The food was the letdown. The $30 game drive lunch box was dry chicken and bread with some fruit, and the $35 buffet had a few okay things but still wasn’t worth the price. The pizza place by the larger pool was decent, nothing special, but better value. We had a good game drive with Ruben, who was friendly and helpful. We saw most of the wildlife, except leopard and buffalo. The staff around the lodge were very nice too. Our room was clean, with a mosquito net and no AC, but opening the sliding doors let in cool night air. The grounds are spacious, with two nice pools, one facing the park. The location beside the park, looking over part of it and a water hole, was especially lovely in the morning and evening. Nice place overall, though the food pulled the rating down.

I liked the food and would happily come back. The rooms were okay, though I think the towels should be white. The gym could use better machines, and a drink should be included in the full board package.

That waterhole view was the best part for us. We got lucky and saw elephants, water buck, and even hippos there. Voi wildlife lodge was brilliant for a stay, especially if you’re heading on safari. We’d have had a brilliant stay even without the morning and evening game drives. From our balcony, we watched elephants arrive at the watering hole just after we got there, then a troop of baboons turned up just before we left. The location is amazing, the rooms are comfortable, and the food and drinks service was good. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The drives themselves were amazing too, and Wilson, our driver-cum-guide, was exceptional.
