Peponi Appartment Watamu

We had a lovely stay at Peponi Watamu. The terrace view was lovely, the room was clean, and the kitchen had what we needed. Shops and tuk tuks and boda bodas are close by, and the beaches are less than a 10 minute walk away. The pool was a nice extra. The owner Ali and staff Samuel, Kenneth and Jacob were always around for a friendly chat. The internet barely worked during most of our stay, which could be seen as a plus, I guess. Watamu’s power supply is unreliable, though, so when it goes out, the fan stops too and sleeping gets difficult. We managed.

We loved Watamu, and staying here was great. The location is perfect, and the staff were lovely and helpful. Would recommend!

There was no air conditioning, so with the current weather it got very hot indoors and difficult to sleep. The second room’s fan didn’t work, and there were no bath soaps in the bathrooms, which is a basic amenity. The swimming pool was dirty and needed cleaning. Also, the apartment had no television, even though one was shown in the photo.

When we arrived during high season, there was no electricity or running water in our rooms. The bathroom door was partly broken, and the place was quite dirty. Peponi Watamu is just after a place called "Peponi Appartments". I’d sent money to a number to book online, but owner Ali said I’d used the wrong number, even though that number was posted at the hotel entrance. It seemed like an organized scam to me. Avoid this place, you can find much better.
