Akjola Hotel

Breakfast was delicious, with different dishes each day, and the whole staff were so hospitable and ready to help with any questions. Lera deserves a special thanks for being especially friendly and helpful. It was a real pleasure staying in this cozy, wonderful place.

The rooms are great, and breakfast is mediocre. There’s no ramp for suitcases or elevator, so you have to carry your luggage up to reception. My biggest complaint was the lack of soundproofing. It could get loud at times, especially on the ground floor.

We booked through Agoda six months ahead and paid in full. At check-in, the hotel said it was overbooked and had no room for us, then asked us to stay at a nearby hostel instead. They presented it as an upgrade because we'd get a “deluxe room,” but it was still a hostel, not a hotel, and the room would have cost less than what we'd booked. We later contacted Agoda CS to complain. Both Akjola Hotel management and Agoda CS seemed to think rejecting a confirmed booking at check-in was fine as long as we had somewhere to stay. Our conversation with Agoda ended with the same AI-generated reply thanking us for our patience, repeated again.

The staff were lovely, and the garden and rooms were nice. Breakfast was good too, and the bazaar is within walking distance. The hotel is beside a busy road, and you'll need transport to reach the city centre. Watch out for expensive extra charges at checkout.
