Kurak Homestay & Hostel

The hosts made the stay special, welcoming us warmly and sharing stories, customs, and a little of the Kyrgyz language. That personal touch helped me feel connected to the people and culture. Kurak Home Stay is in a picturesque village, surrounded by beautiful scenery and fresh air. It’s a lovely base for hiking, horseback riding, or just enjoying the mountains and valleys. The rooms are simple, clean, and cozy, with a peaceful feel after a day out. The home-cooked meals, made with fresh local ingredients, were a highlight and gave us a taste of traditional Kyrgyz dishes. The accommodations are comfortable while still reflecting traditional Kyrgyz life. This is more than a place to sleep, it’s an immersive cultural experience with kind hosts, good food, and beautiful surroundings. One small suggestion: if possible, it would be helpful to have a long mirror in a common area.

We had such a good time at Kurak Homestay. The four little girls made it feel very homely. We also took a cooking class, learned to make local kyrgiz food, and it was delicious. They offer wool carpet making too, which was another lovely experience. Thanks for the amazing time. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Kyrgistan.

The room was pleasant and the bed comfortable, and the house had a nice exterior and interior. The owner was busy but pleasant, and spoke English well. It’s a real family home, so children and the usual work and school routines are part of the stay. There wasn’t a wardrobe or anywhere to hang clothes. I chose it because my flight arrived late and it was a little farther from the city’s main hub. But Bishkek is small enough that being closer to the airport or bus station doesn’t really matter. For the price and the minimal breakfast, there are many better accommodation options elsewhere. I’d only recommend Kurak Homestay if you have specific location needs.

The location worked well for us, and the washroom had everything we needed. The home felt clean and cozy, with a lovely atmosphere. Bek was a great guy, too. We’d happily come back next time.
