Salut Hotel

The hotel is clean and friendly, and breakfast is good. It is a bit far from the center, and there’s noise from the railway nearby.

We booked through booking.com for 14256 Som for three nights and four days. It’s a budget-friendly hotel, about a 15-minute walk from the victory monument. Our room was on the fifth floor, spacious enough for two, with a TV, handheld hair dryer, hot shower, and toiletries including toothbrushes, shampoo, shower gel, handwash, soap, toilet roll, slippers, and towels. The building also serves as an office on weekdays, so the rooms are behind a door that opens with a chip attached to the room key. Staff understand English, which is a plus in this country, and they helped us book a cab. There’s no bellboy for luggage. We arrived at 5 pm and found the room still being cleaned, so we waited 10 minutes. No one let us know when it was ready. We had to ask, then were handed the key and left to find the room ourselves. Breakfast wasn’t part of our package. We were told there are three breakfast options at 400 som each, and we’d need to tell them a day ahead if we wanted one.

The hotel was basic and clean, and otherwise okay, but the service was very poor. I checked in at 4:30am, then the receptionist kept calling me at 8:20AM and woke me up because they had miscalculated the cost at check-in. They showed no respect for a guest trying to sleep.

Nothing special, but not bad either. The staff are nice and the bed is pretty comfortable. For the price, it’s a reasonable hotel, a little above average.
