I loved staying in the yurt at Malika guest house for a week and a half, even though it was a little cold while I was there. Saltanat treated me like family, gave me breakfast for free, and sometimes dinner too. She didn’t speak much English, but we still communicated quite a bit using a translation app. On my last day, I hitchhiked in her car from Kochkor to Bishkek with another guest. It was definitely a highlight of my time in Kyrgyzstan. One thing to know if you want to sleep in: her family’s cement business starts making noise around 8.30am.

Mama Malika is the best, thank you for everything! The rooms were spacious, the beds comfy, and breakfast was good. We also left our bags here overnight while hiking, which was no problem. A great stay.

We only needed somewhere to sleep, but Saltanat and her wonderful family were so kind and hospitable that we ended up staying for two weeks. It’s a perfect spot for getting to Song Kul lake and hiking to Kol'ukok. Saltanat makes a simply great breakfast every morning. She was an amazing host and became like family to us. We definitely recommend Malika guest house in Kochkor!

Saltanat is friendly and very helpful. She speaks limited English, but communicates well with the phone translation app. Breakfast was delicious, and there was plenty for a normal person to eat. Guesthouse Malika is a gem, modern and seemingly brand new, with an immaculate, spotlessly clean interior. The shower is modern and hot water comes quickly. It’s about an 8 minute walk to the town center. This is the nicest place I’ve stayed so far in Kyrgystan.
