The yurts have private bathrooms and underfloor heating, and the spot near Lenin Peak is fantastic. The staff are very welcoming, and there's a small bar with alcoholic drinks in the evenings. Food service was a major letdown, though. The dining hall gets completely overcrowded within 45 minutes of mealtime starting, and there's barely anything left to eat. Cups, glasses, and cutlery are often in short supply too. Some of that may be because many of the mountaineers staying there behave like wild animals, but the service team also seems clearly overwhelmed.

Mikhail is an outstanding manager, and the service is excellent. This feels like the start of a trip of a lifetime. Being so far from civilization, you can't really expect much more.

The photo isn't of Ak-Sai, it's CentralAsia-Travel. I already wrote a review about the Basecamp, and everything there was perfect. I can't really say anything about Ak-Sai.
