Salty River Resort

The bed was comfortable, and the place was clean and tidy. Breakfast was basic but fine. Since it’s right by the river, bring plenty of bug spray. Most places are about a 3-5 minute tuk tuk ride away.

The room was fairly large and clean, and the accommodation was good. Staff were welcoming, though breakfast service was frustratingly slow. I had to wait an unacceptably long time for just a few dishes. Still, I’d recommend it.

Kampot is about 10 minutes away by TukTuk, and the resort is right on the river with a restaurant, drinks, and breakfast included. It’s affordable, as long as you’re not expecting a 5-star hotel. We had trouble with the air conditioning, but they fixed it after we asked on the second day. There are now at least two English-speaking receptionists, and they’re very friendly. The earlier reviews must have been taken into account.

The room and view are great, and everything else was okay or acceptable. The manager, though, was unfriendly and gave poor customer service. I wish I’d spoken to him in English instead of my local Khmer, so I could see how he handled all our requests. Even with a full-house booking, use of the kayaking facility was charged. That seemed strange to me, since it should be complimentary for in-house guests. With service like this, I hope the owner considers doing something about the manager so they can attract guests like me to return.
