Hotel de la Plage

We’d booked somewhere else, but once we got to Kep and heard how highly people spoke of this accommodation, we wondered if we’d chosen wrong. We didn’t stay here, but luckily we ate at the restaurant and the food was so good that we came back for the next three nights. To us, it was clear the food was made with love. We spoke with the owner and the chef, Mr Bun. He’s unassuming, really passionate about cooking, and seems to want every customer to enjoy their meal. If you’re in Kep, look out this hidden treasure of a hotel and restaurant. It has a great atmosphere, and every employee has a smile.

We walked out before ordering. As we were leaving, someone from the bar came over to ask if we were ready to order, which was almost funny. When I asked about a one-hour massage on arrival, a man quoted $27. The restaurant service was horrible, and the place seemed like a tourist trap taking advantage of newcomers who are only there for a few days. If you’re French, you may feel among friends. Everyone else should spend their money at a Khmer-owned business.

Rooms had ants and bed bugs, and I wouldn’t stay again. And to answer the comment, this definitely isn’t a fake review. The attitude in your reply says it all.

We had a sea-view room and were lucky enough to have some monkeys visit our balcony. The hotel itself is quirky, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The young woman at reception spoke especially good English and booked our onward travel. The owner makes an effort to talk with guests, and the barman makes very good cocktails. The restaurant serves local and French food. I loved this boutique hotel, and Kep has a great atmosphere thanks to the locals.
