The room was pretty basic, and the cleanliness wasn’t great. It also seemed like the owner hadn’t realized we’d booked: he looked confused when we arrived and took us to a different room that wasn’t very clean. The setting is lovely, though, at the island’s northern end with nature all around and a huge stretch of sand.

You can take day trips to see dolphins or temples up on the mountain. The bungalows are in Khmer style, simple and with little luxury, but comfortable in a way that feels close to local life. It’s calm and quiet, great value, and I’d thoroughly recommend it 👌🏼

The family helped us with whatever we needed, and the local Cambodian food was delicious. You can rent bikes there too. It’s a rustic, beautiful place and a lovely spot to get away.
