Dara Airport City Hotel & Spa

This big tower hotel feels stranded at the old airport, like something left over from the era of Chinese business conferences. The corridors are shiny and the rooms are large, but a lot of things don't work, including, apparently, hot water in the shower. It gave me a bit of a The Shining feeling. There were lots of people at reception when a bus arrived late from the airport, which was a plus for service. The hotel seemed deserted otherwise. In the evening, I wouldn't go out around here. The only places that seemed open were a few very dodgy massage venues. Qatar Airways uses it for emergencies. Their motto is “Going Places Together,” but I doubt they use it for their own staff. 😳

My room looked out over the pool, and it was nice, with a large toilet area, all amenities, and hot water. The bed was hard, though. This is a very Chinese area, with lots of Chinese shops and restaurants around. The lobby is actually on the 5th floor, reached by elevator, and it was deserted when I checked in at 830pm. Two people at the counter spoke English. I stayed one night, and getting to the airport by taxi took 15 minutes.

The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Dara Airport City Hotel and Spa is near the old international airport Pnhom Penh, with a spa, pool, and restaurant. A convenient, relaxing place to stay, especially for travelers.
