Ocean Hotel

The room was lovely and the front office staff were great, but breakfast was a letdown. The restaurant staff looked frustrated and weren't smiley. The food was mediocre, and there were no napkins. I saw salad sitting in water for the first time, and juice only appeared after we asked, it was the Chinese squash type. There were no regular spoons, only soup spoons.

The staff were very good, especially the manager, and they accommodated all our requests. I liked the room decor, particularly the shower. It's a new Chinese-owned hotel in a lovely neighborhood, with guest rooms on the upper floors and residences below. There are Chinese signs everywhere, and the dining area is on the L floor beneath the rooftop. Smoking was the drawback. People smoked by the entrance, in the lobby and dining area, so you could smell it outside the room, especially in the lobby. Is smoking allowed in Cambodia? Luckily, there weren't many guests at the time.

I spent a pleasant few days here. Since I don't smoke, I needed to switch rooms, and the staff sorted it out quickly and comfortably. Reception service was the main highlight. There's also a private skybar. I'll definitely come back.

The worst part was still waiting for the booked room at 3:30 pm. They blamed the previous guest for checking out late, and customer service came across as rude even though they couldn't provide the room. Cigarette smell was everywhere, in the room and almost all the common areas.
