The hotel sits in a quiet spot, about five minutes by tuktuk from central Siem Reap, and the WiFi worked quickly and reliably in the rooms. It’s a small, exceptionally beautiful place, built and decorated mostly in traditional Khmer villa style, with spacious, comfortable, well-equipped rooms. The staff are friendly and professional, and reception also works as a well-organized tour desk that can arrange almost any local excursion or activity. There’s no restaurant kitchen on site, but the scenic rooftop dining area serves an exceptionally good breakfast.

We’ve stayed at Java Wooden Villa twice now, and keep coming back for its calm atmosphere and friendly staff. It’s clean and cute, tucked away from the busy center, though only a 5-7 minute ride gets you around the city. Ordering a Grab taxi is easy, and it means no negotiating and a fair price. There are fancier, posher places around, but we really enjoy the feel of this one.

The staff are lovely, and manager Darra went out of the way to help make us comfortable. Our room had a balcony, hot shower, and a large, comfortable bed. The rooms are spacious, and the hotel is about two kilometres from the city in a peaceful, quiet setting. There’s also a great pool with greenery all around it.

There were eight of us, two families of four, and the villa had plenty of rooms so each parent and each child could have a room of their own. We stayed two nights and had a great time. The poolside barbecue dinner, with the beautiful gardens around us, was a highlight. The staff were friendly, informative, and helpful, and their on-site tuk-tuk made getting downtown easy whenever we wanted. I’d highly recommend the villa rooms, and groups of friends can book both villas together as a private eight-bedroom stay.

We had a great four-night stay and found the villas nice, with comfortable beds and peaceful grounds around the pool. Breakfast was great every morning, and the staff were kind and friendly. Even though we said it wasn’t necessary, they prepared breakfast extra early on the day we had a very early tour. It made a great home base for my wife and me during our visit to Seam Reap.
