Route 66 Hostel

The new events, like karaoke and movie night, are great, and the place has really turned around since the recent management change. Big shout-out to Bart, Rahul and Nat 😉. Great location and the best staff. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Siem Reap. See you soon!

The music at the downstairs bar is really loud and can go on until around 7 a.m. every day, so that’s a plus if you’re there to party. We still enjoyed our four-night stay. The beds are comfortable, with curtains, and the room’s air conditioning is really good. WiFi works pretty well most of the time, and the toilets are clean, though a little smelly. It’s in a really good location, and the staff are super friendly and helpful, especially Panha and his tuk tuk.

The bed bugs were awful, they literally ate me. The bedroom door didn’t lock, so a guy who wasn’t in our room would sometimes come in for a nap and snore loudly. Some girls also came to our room around 3 a.m., seeming drunk and looking for their friends. I’m not sure, but I think they were hostel staff. Activities, Tuk Tuk rides, and tickets cost more than elsewhere. On the plus side, it’s a good price and in a great location, less than two minutes’ walk from Pub Street and the city’s main restaurants. The bar and restaurant area is nice, though a bit more expensive if you’re on a budget. The food was good, and the room, bed, and pillow were comfortable.

For the low price, this is the best hostel in Siem Reap. It’s centrally located near the famous Pub Street. The dorm room is large and clean, and there are enough bathrooms. You can easily get drinks and food at the bar on the first floor, and they let me check in early.
