A big shame, because the wooden furniture and carvings make the hotel look like it must once have been lovely. During our four nights, though, nobody cleaned our room even once. The main light and another light didn't work, the hot water ran out after a couple of minutes in the shower, and things generally didn't seem clean. It doesn't seem well run now, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The decor is nice, but the wifi wasn't great, and breakfast was the same each day, just an omelette and baguette. We also had to figure out for ourselves that a little wheel in the bathroom controlled the hot water, as nobody explained it. Staff were reasonable, though one man kept offering me a tuk-tuk ride. The 543 hostel across the road had a much better atmosphere.

Sakura village has been open for 22 years, yet the room was clean and the staff friendly. It felt like home.
