Wat Bo House

A nice traditional Khmer home with a large ground floor. I’d recommend it for couples coming to Siem Reap with family for pre-wedding photos. There’s a sofa downstairs where the bride and groom can get ready.

I stayed with friends for just under a week. The rooms were lovely, the service was great, and the place itself was beautiful. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the main part of town. Ngovlay and the women who came to turn over our rooms were kind and exceptional every time. Ngovlay drove us to Ankor Wat and the other temples and shared lots of cultural history. He also worked around what we needed and was reachable on Whatsapp whenever we needed anything. I highly recommend the Wat Bo House for a stay in Siem Reap.

The villa has five bedrooms, a roomy layout, a kitchen and living room, plus a lovely natural pool. It combines rustic character with modern comforts, though the accommodations felt less modern than I’m used to. They have a distinctive feel that takes you back to another era. We sometimes heard music from nearby neighbors, but it didn’t bother us and got quiet around 10 pm. We even found ourselves happily dancing to a catchy Khmer song, VannDa Sankran Magic, thanks to the late-night music. After a hot, humid afternoon exploring Angkor Wat, the natural pool was a refreshing escape. Don’t miss the delicious food at Khmer Kitchen, about a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride away. This place really is one of a kind.

We enjoyed our stay in this big house with a great location, especially the large pool. I’d stay again, but at the same high nightly price I’d hope some cheap fixes had been made. The dining table doesn’t seat everyone, and the house is short on crockery and glasses, with just one butter knife and no wine glasses. The mosquito nets had holes and wouldn’t close properly, and there were quite a few mosquitoes. The washing machine was broken while we were there.
