Port Hedonia

We paid 62 GBP for one night, breakfast not included, and felt it was a lot for the comfort and amenities. We've found much better value at other hotels in Cambodia. We were only passing through for one night on the way to the islands. The dirty, smelly area on the drive over made the hotel feel like a welcome oasis above town. Our bungalow among the trees was basic, and the hard bed gave us a preview of island life. There was only a kettle in the room, so we had to ask for tea and coffee.

It's a former pagoda rock boutique hotel, and Google Maps hadn't been updated, so we couldn't find the place easily. The owners are nice, the room was clean and peaceful, and we felt relaxed during our two nights there. It's a few minutes' walk to the pagoda, with a full view over the city. The food was really delicious, too. Highly recommend.

The location is beautiful, the price was good, the view is amazing, and the food is decent. Maybe it was a great place before covid, but our stay was miserable. We had the family room with two bedrooms and a living room. Huge gaps around the sliding door let mosquitoes into one bedroom all night. They had no mosquito nets when we asked. I stayed up killing them and trying to keep them off my toddler, but we still woke up covered in bites. I must have killed 25 or more. In the other room, a rat was hanging around inside and on top of the air con, which then stopped working. The family suite had cobwebs and spider webs everywhere, no hot water, and no plug for the TV. It felt like nobody had lived there for who knows how long. The pool was dirty and unusable, so the whole stay was a big disappointment. Maybe it will improve after covid when more guests start coming back, but we won't try it again.

Julia and Dimitro were wonderful hosts and made me feel like family. The food was good, and the accommodation was top notch. This gem is tucked beside a pagoda on a hill, and it feels safe. I can't say enough good things about it.
