The property has plenty of promise, but it feels as if things have slipped since it first opened. I had a strange stay, and even though the staff I met were kind, it’s hard for me to recommend it in its current shape. My room was very clean and compact, but felt bare and wasn’t comfortable. The bed was especially uncomfortable, with a flat sheet draped over the mattress pad and a thin microfiber blanket. There weren’t any extra blankets. A translucent door let in the rising sun, and the plastic-feeling couch wasn’t pleasant to sit on. The room had no fridge, safe, coffee machine, iron or ironing board, or microwave. There were two mugs, though I wasn’t sure what to use them for, and a tiny TV that seemed useful mainly for logging into streaming services. There was also nobody available to call if I needed anything. The grounds are nicely decorated, and it looks like a lot of thought went into building the place. It gave me the impression of a family’s dream business that hasn’t quite come together. The hotel is on the far side of the island from the main town, right along the coast, but I couldn’t find a way down to a beach, if there even is one there. The people working there were friendly when I could find them. The building marked reception was empty, and the receptionist normally leaves at four. She kindly waited for my late 4:15 arrival, which I appreciated. At checkout I couldn’t find anyone to hand the keys to, so I left them in my room. The restaurant apparently used to operate, but seemed closed during my visit. I may have been the only guest there that night. After dinner, I got back around 9 pm to find the property gate shut, and had to open it myself to park. It’ll do for a single night, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer in the condition it’s in right now, despite the potential.

Calypso Nevis was a good find for someone like me who enjoys food and a bargain. The dishes were impressive, and the prices made it easy to treat myself. Rash meal was a fun taste adventure. The hotel also arranged excursions that were affordable and exciting, so the trip felt rewarding without costing too much.

It was peaceful and quiet, with a lovely ocean view, though getting down to the water isn’t a walkable option. You’d have to cross cliffs and rocks. The room was clean and nice, and the service was excellent. The owner really went out of their way to accommodate us. The location could be difficult if you don’t have a car.

There’s plenty to enjoy here, from the gym and library to the activities and restaurant with tasty Asian food. The views are breathtaking, the service was impeccable, and it felt like a wonderful place to unwind. Such a gem!

The staff were warm and attentive, and the modern decor and thoughtful amenities made the hotel feel luxurious. My room looked out over the ocean, which made for a really calm, relaxing stay. Being able to step onto the beach for peaceful walks was a highlight. This newly opened Calypso Hotel exceeded what I expected, and felt like an elegant, quiet seaside escape.
