Andong Gurume Resort

I went in winter and had such a lovely time staying here :) The room and bathroom were in good shape, and breakfast was delicious. Nothing bothered me at all. I kind of miss it and would love to come back after the COVID situation.

You should spend a night here if you're visiting Andong. Staying in a traditional Korean house is a real experience. These houses were relocated from another area to save them from being submerged by the nearby Andong Dam. Just be ready for some inconveniences, including sleeping without a bed.

I really liked the peaceful setting, the closeness to nature, and the resort's Off cafe. The small room is in the second hanok from the entrance. It's an old-style hanok with a modern interior, and the materials, including the kettle, felt good quality. The bathroom was clean and nice, though the room barely fits two people. Its door is shorter than I am, so I had to bend every time I went in. The toilet is outside the room and has a short door too. After the outside lights go off at night, walking over to use it feels scary. The resort is open to visitors exploring the hanok village, and although I could lock my room, the entrance to the hanok itself wasn't locked. That didn't feel very safe to me. At least it's far from the city, with few people around, which made the atmosphere nice.

The food is nice and very traditional Korean. If that's not your thing, or you'd like a glass of wine, you'd be better off eating somewhere else.
