Happy Q Motel

We really enjoyed staying here. The hotel was good value, clean, and looked very new in both the rooms and public areas. Our room was comfortable, with good heating including floor heating, hot water, and a very clean bathroom. It was well equipped with toiletries, accessories, and supplies, like many budget hotels in South Korea. Breakfast was included, with noodles or toast, and the lady manager made eggs. Simple, but good value. The couple running the place were sweet and friendly, and checked us in quickly after a long trip. It’s a couple of minutes’ walk to buses for the main bus terminal or train station, and under ten minutes to the market and town centre. I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say.

The mattress may feel less comfortable than what many people are used to, but that comes down to preference. There’s no elevator, and the motel has the small-town Korean feel I wanted in Andong. The service at Happy Q Motel was amazing. In Seoul, my bag got caught in the subway doors when an older woman took a while, and I tore it trying to get onto the train. The lady at Happy Q offered to sew it up and didn’t charge me. Breakfast was part of that great service too: fried eggs, cereal, milk, orange juice, toast, and jam. I don’t know what the other breakfast reviews mean, unless those people woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I’d definitely book again for a vacation in Andong.

The woman at the entrance was really polite and nice. The rooms are big, beautiful, and have all the comforts. I didn’t try breakfast, and I’m not even sure if it was available since we left without having any. For the price, this is the best hotel I’ve stayed at so far in Korea. Definitely recommend it!

The beds are rock hard and covered in plastic. There isn’t proper bed linen, so you have to trust that the shiny blanket gets washed after every guest. Nobody speaks a word of English, and reception isn’t staffed all the time. The bathroom badly needs renovation. Towels are very thin and small.
