Boryeong (Daecheon) Haenal Pension

The owners were very kind, and we had no problems for a one-night stay. The room wasn’t spacious and could use a neater upkeep. It’s close to Daecheon Beach, with a convenience store right across from it, though I didn’t see a separate parking area.

We had the large mud duplex for 10 people over two nights and three days. The owner was kind and checked on things when no one was around. The room locks with a key, which you can leave downstairs if you head out before dinner. It’s three minutes from the beach and Daecheon Station, with convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and arcades nearby. A nearby pension has a rooftop barbecue area, so it can get a little noisy at night. The place was clean but felt bare. There are TVs, hair dryers, shower towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, though the quality is just so-so. Towels are supplied according to the number of guests. The blankets and pillows were clean and plentiful, but I’m not sure they get washed often. There are two air conditioners, so the first floor stays cool, while the duplex gets hot because air doesn’t circulate well. The stairs to the upper level are higher than expected, so one wrong step could be serious. There are no outlets up there either, so you need to plug a multi-tap into the outlet by the entrance skylight. The kitchen has a little heating and most things you need, but the area under the sink wasn’t very sanitary. The refrigerator can hold food for 10 people for a day. The induction cooktop is weak, not even enough to boil ramen. There are barbecue areas on both the rooftop and first floor. They were clean, but the lighting was weak. They provide a few flash grenades as a service, and the rooftop barbecue lights are turned on at night. The barbecue area opens directly onto the roof, so it’s dangerous for children.

The beach is right in front, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. It was really great, and I highly recommend it!

The sea is close, and the price feels like good value. The owner was welcoming, and we had a great time using the outdoor barbecue.
