The view is lovely, and the building looks clean, maybe because it’s new. But the floor stayed sticky even after I wiped it, possibly from disinfectant used throughout the room. There was also hair left in the sink, blocking the drain, so we had to clear it ourselves before using it.

I came by train and got off at Ilgwang Station, and the owner picked me up. The room was clean, and I really liked looking out at the ocean. There isn’t much around, but it’s a nice spot to unwind, and the cafe coffee is tasty. I’d come back if I needed another quiet break.

The place is clean and the view is great. The main problem for me was the noise from outside. I could even hear raindrops falling and had trouble sleeping, so if you’re sensitive to sound like I am, keep that in mind. Aside from that, I really liked it~^^;;

The rocky shoreline is good for catching crabs when the weather’s nice, and the shower rooms are clean. It seems newly built, and they provide dishes. Parking is a little limited, and the sandy beach is far away. There’s an outdoor foot bath, though I think a pool for kids or toddlers would’ve been better.

The location has a few handy things nearby. The convenience store is right across the road, clean and well stocked for somewhere this remote. There’s a friendly retriever called Bada there, plus meat and lettuce for sale, though I didn’t notice them myself. Twosome Place near Ilgwang Beach is about a five-minute drive. After drinking, I went to a nearby Daegu soup restaurant for something refreshing. Search for “Today Milmyeon” and you’ll find “Today Haejangguk Milmyeon Ilgwang Branch,” which I really recommend. Moon Toast Ilgwang Branch saves you a trip to Songjeong, and E-Mart 24 and Mega Mart are within a ten-minute drive. Mega Mart is pretty big and sells meat and other things. There’s also a black cat nearby that often gets under parked cars. It doesn’t move easily when a car starts, so watch out. As for the stay, the room was average and the view was nice, but outlets were hard to find. There weren’t any by the bed, and the only one I found was on the wall near the window, which made charging awkward. There was no toothpaste, toothbrush, or soap, so bring your own. You can sort your trash in the recycling bins on the first floor. The food waste bin still had the previous guest’s leftovers and smelled bad. Cleanliness was disappointing. The two-night stay cost 270,000 won after I canceled my Coupang booking and paid cash for the discount. I’d been told it was another 100,000 won for each additional person, though it wasn’t an extra guest, it was a local family dinner. The barbecue fee was 30,000 won, apparently 10,000 won more than the original 20,000 because there were more people. I prepaid 400,000 won including a 40,000 won deposit. I wasn’t sure whether two family members would come, so I was promised a 40,000 won refund if they didn’t, and I deposited the money into my account. On the first day I called the information desk about the grill and barbecue time. They called me back from the male owner’s number and suddenly said the 30,000 won barbecue fee hadn’t been paid. I explained that I had deposited it, and they first insisted it wasn’t paid, then suddenly said they’d confirmed it. They seemed unaware of the guest count and extra charge, which was disappointing. I’d also paid for the extra person, but there wasn’t enough charcoal for that many people and the meat didn’t cook properly. If it was 20,000 won per person just for a seat and a lit grill, I felt I’d have been better off going to a meat restaurant with side dishes. The two people I’d expected didn’t come, so I asked for their money back. They refused at first, saying same-day cancellations weren’t allowed, and said they’d check and contact me, but I heard nothing. I followed up. The manager was out, then they said it was checkout day and they’d call back. I waited without hearing from them. I tried the front desk at checkout, but nobody was there. I called and waited, left the key at the desk, and called again. They made excuses and said they’d call back. I texted my account number and requested 40,000 won, but they suddenly said 20,000 won and refunded only that. I asked why, since it was 20,000 won per person and two people hadn’t shown up. They again brought up the manager and the same-day cancellation rule, saying they’d try to pass it along and were on their way to Seoul. It was ridiculous that guests were staying there, it wasn’t an unmanned motel, and there was no manager around. I still haven’t heard anything, and doubt I’ll get the other 20,000 won back. Look at this, boss. You’re not running a business over a few thousand won. I made the reservation with the owner, so why keep referring me to the counseling manager? I never saw anyone who said he was the counseling manager. Was that male part-timer the counseling manager? He didn’t seem to know about the barbecue payment either. I only saw one male employee at the pension, and he looked like a part-timer. The morning I asked for the refund, I saw the owner cleaning the pool, but he didn’t even call. The pension has an ocean view, and it had been a while since I’d been back home. My family from Busan and I had a great first stay together, and everything else was good. Still, the owner’s stinginess left me disappointed and bitter, especially with the economy being so tough.
