Griffin Bay Hotel

The room and building feel worn: scuffed surfaces, things coming loose, and linens and towels with frayed areas or holes. Cleaning also wasn't thorough, and there isn't daily room service or a clear way to request cleaning for specific dates. The location is handy, right on the main road with a subway stop across from the hotel for Yeongdo-gu, Busan St., and Gamcheon-dong. There are chain cafes, convenience stores, and street food close by. The downside is the fish and sewage smell around the hotel. I understand there are fish stalls nearby where fish is cut and washed, and sewage is a common issue in Korea's larger cities. Check-in was quick. I got one key, and staff stored my bags for a few hours after checkout without a problem.

The room had almost no soundproofing, and dust was visible and seemed to fly around whenever I touched things. Cleanliness needs a lot of work. At check-in, they said the last available room in the type I'd booked was a special room for disabled guests, so I paid an extra 10 dollars to upgrade to a regular room. Even then, it was missing things like a bidet, room safe, and individual lighting controls. I'd pay more for one of the decent places nearby.

The location is good, but the room was dirty when we arrived, including the bathroom, pillows, and floor. The bed was really uncomfortable too. At check-in they gave us only one key. We asked for another, and were told we'd have to leave a deposit.

Good price and a handy spot, easy to walk around from here. One issue though, I put up the “do not disturb” sign and staff still came in without knocking.
