Guesthouse Dear Moon

The social atmosphere was the best of any hostel I stayed at in the country. I'd stay here again if I came back to Busan. It's well located for transport, and they put clear effort into making the details nice. The facilities are pretty basic, though. It's really an apartment that hasn't been renovated much, which is typical for hostels in Korea.

The beds were comfortable, the common area was nice, and there was a fresh seafood market right outside. I had a good stay, met some nice guests, and found a few people to travel around with. I barely dealt with the staff, so I didn't rate the service.

The location is great and the mattress was comfortable, but I don't have much else positive to say. I spent three nights in the mixed dorm, and there were lots of mosquitoes every night. The toilet and shower are inside the dorm room, and sewer smells come out if you leave the toilet door open. They mentioned a women's powder room, but some girls had filled it with their luggage, so there was nowhere for me to put my makeup bag or sit. The reception staff changed every day, and none of them seemed friendly. I left for my next hostel as soon as I could. I won't stay here again.

My final day in Busan was ruined by the way the hostel handled a room mix-up. I booked two nights in a mixed dorm and got an email listing room and bed 303-6. I checked in, put my things in the locker, and went out. That night I came back and went to sleep. The next morning a worker saw me there and asked aggressively why I was in that room. I showed him my confirmation for the mixed room, and he went quiet after insisting I'd booked the wrong one. Agoda's reply, shown in my screenshot, said the hostel was entirely at fault, though the worker blamed Agoda. I spent 3-4 hours in the lobby while he cooked lunch, called friends, and laughed, without seeming concerned about resolving it. He wouldn't agree to a refund or any solution, so I left and decided to let Agoda sort it out. What upset me most was that he saw no issue with a 40-year-old man being placed in a female-only dorm with five women. Women book those rooms to feel safe. What if I'd been a predator or a bad person? The worker never apologized to me or to the women, and blamed me for the mix-up. He made me feel like a criminal despite my doing nothing wrong, then did nothing to fix the situation. He showed a little remorse only after I lost my temper. In my opinion, he should be fired for putting the women at risk and refusing to admit the mistake. Shameful. A fully automated check-in system shouldn't be allowed when staff are this careless. Someone less harmless than me could have been assigned that bed, and something much worse could have happened. Women's safety should be the top priority. I strongly don't recommend this place.
