Hound Hotel Gijang-osiria

Looking for an overcharge and a waste of time? This hotel delivered. I paid upfront for a much-needed room and even visited ahead of time to meet management and discuss the details. They were very pleasant and assured me everything would be fine. Weeks later, with no reason on my end, I got an email mentioning extra charges. It also said, “If you cancel the reservation, there will be no charge.” That’s when I figured it out: part of my booking fell during the so-called Golden Week, when hotels in Busan love to charge 10x the regular price. It seemed they’d found someone willing to pay more for my room and wanted me out of the way. I tried to get Agoda to do something, but this is Korea, so obviously they couldn’t. In the end I couldn’t go at all, which was a pity because the town is very nice and cozy. The hotel is far from downtown anyway.

The Cinema Twin Room left me very satisfied. The place looks recently remodeled, and it’s clean with friendly staff. There’s plenty of parking, and breakfast is good. Toothbrushes and toothpaste aren’t provided due to government policy, so you need to buy them in the lobby. I’ll come back next time.

The room had a huge TV, and I could log into Netflix on it, though it was still connected to a previous guest's account. Remember to log out before you leave. The bathroom and tub were roomy enough for two or three people, which did make me wonder if this was a love hotel. I also saw two big bugs during my one-night stay, so the room needs better upkeep. It's on the second floor, so bugs may be an issue. The Hound Hotel is about a kilometer from central Gijang, in a rather isolated spot with no convenience store or other shops nearby. Bring anything you might need. Parking is limited if you arrive late, though you can use the nearby car rental lot. Breakfast is just bread, and you can easily skip it. The facilities aren't old, but nothing about the place left me with a particularly good impression. Just average.

Everything was spotless, from the bedding and towels to the bathroom. I was there for a few days on a business trip and had a wonderful stay. There were lots of families staying there too, and after seeing why the reviews were so good, I'd like to come back with my children on a trip. ^^
