Hound Premier Nampo

The place feels more like a high-end 4-star stay than a 3-star hotel. It's renovated and clean, and I loved the rooms and big bathtub. My two complaints were the noisy AC at night, which made sleep difficult, and the location in Nampo, around an hour and a half by public transport from the central area.

The housekeeping and kitchen staff were friendly, though I can't say the same about reception. On our first visit, nobody at the desk spoke English, so we had to improvise. The supposed bar on the top floor isn't operating, and from what we understood, it won't be opening soon either. We spent three nights here. Our room's AC caused no problems, despite what I'd read in other reviews. The area is louder than the countryside, as you'd expect, but we felt safe walking around at night. Maybe that depends on where you're coming from.

Basic hotel, but the room was good and the Nampo location is very handy, close to the subway. If you're visiting from the West, I'd book without breakfast.

The bathtub was the only good part for us. We paid extra for a Korean-American breakfast, and what we got was disgraceful. The American breakfast was barely more than eggs, salami, and toast. We felt humiliated after paying all that money. Nobody helped, and the staff we spoke to walked away. When they didn't understand us, they just kept saying, "no, no." They didn't even try to do what they could. We left unsatisfied.
