The sea setting at SIGNIEL Busan made this my first stay with SIGNIEL, Lotte Hotels' top luxury brand, a memorable introduction. I've got a visit to SIGNIEL Seoul coming up, and this stay made clear why the brand is seen as the height of luxury hospitality in Korea. SIGNIEL Busan has a two Michelin Key distinction, the highest recognition in South Korea, shared only with its sister property in Seoul. The hotel occupies South Korea's second tallest building at the far end of Haeundae Beach. The beach was pristine and breathtaking even in winter, with a calm, almost cinematic feel and a huge stretch of sand in front of the hotel. It felt open and exclusive in a way that's rare. I stayed in the Deluxe Suite with Mipo Harbor View. The grey and deep blue palette gave it a serene, luxurious mood, and the ocean views were mesmerizing from sunrise to sunset, especially over breakfast in the room. The public areas matched the suite, from the artwork in the grand lobby to the indoor and outdoor infinity pools looking out to sea. The extensive sauna, with pools at different temperatures, was a real highlight and a great way to unwind. Meals were just as memorable. The View had an elegant breakfast with lovely scenery. Chaoran, a Michelin selected restaurant, served refined Chinese dishes with luxurious ingredients and beach views. Afternoon tea at The Lounge came with beautifully layered savory and sweet bites and a wide tea selection. Warm, anticipatory service brought the whole stay together and showed why SIGNIEL Busan holds its two Michelin Key status.

The sea and beach views are beautiful and make great photo backdrops. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the location right beside the beach is surrounded by delicious restaurants. The hotel was very clean and modern, with automatic curtains. Best hotel I've stayed in.

The room had a breathtaking view, absolutely stunning. Inside, everything was very clean and well maintained. If you're after an ocean view in Busan, this is the place. Highly recommend it!

Service was great from check-in through the restaurant and room service, and staff explained any amenities I asked about in detail. I booked with Amex points during Seollal (Korean New Year), and we got upgraded to a double ocean view plus a $100 credit. They also dry or press three articles of clothing per person each day. The buffet was excellent, with a strong range of American, Korean, European, and other Asian influences. They even cook bacon two ways, crispy and regular. The attention to detail really impressed me.

Eric made check-in feel personal. He walked us to our rooms, helped us settle in, and checked that we had what we needed. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful ocean views, well-kept rooms, and luxurious facilities. The attention to detail was impressive. Still, my partner and I, a male couple, were often made uncomfortable by staff staring at us. My tattoos also seemed to attract negative attention and kept me from accessing some areas, which felt discriminatory. At the lounge around 9:30 pm on Wednesday the 29th, the server was dismissive and ignored us unless we approached her. She was much warmer and more engaged with Korean guests and colleagues. The stay had some remarkable parts, but greater cultural awareness and inclusivity would make Signiel Busan a more welcoming luxury hotel for everyone.
