South Vandeco Hotel

There are plenty of restaurants in this lively area, and the room itself was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a broken shower tile, and the toilet wasn’t level. The room also smelled as if mosquito spray had recently been used, so we had to let it air out for a while, though it wasn’t too bothersome. Some parts felt a little dated. Reception was fine when we needed help, but the staff didn’t show much interest in guests.

For US$270 for three nights, this was the worst hotel we stayed at in Korea. It was dusty and dirty, even around the front desk, and the room was very noisy because it faced a highway that runs 24 hours a day. There was a gap by the window frame big enough to fit my hands through. There wasn’t a laundry service, and when I asked about it, they didn’t seem to understand what I meant. Check-in at 4 p.m. is ridiculous. It can’t compare with the hotels in Seoul.

The room was clean, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful.

My friend and I stayed for four nights, and the hotel charged her card twice for the room on check-in day. Since it was Friday night, staff said they could only check with the bank on Monday. When my friend followed up Monday, they told her to ask again at checkout. Then, at checkout, a different staff member knew nothing about it and told us to contact the hotel if the charges had both gone through. We were really frustrated. The bank app had already notified my friend about both charges, and confirming with the bank should have been the hotel's job, not ours. We called the bank after returning home, and it confirmed the payment had gone through twice. We called and emailed the hotel, and only then did they finally check with the bank and cancel one charge. Why didn't they do that on Monday? The whole thing was frustrating. There are lots of other hotels in this area, so I wouldn't risk getting charged twice to stay here.
