J-One Hotel

I'm from New York, USA, and found the hotel management training terrible. The staff came across as rude and unfriendly, like they were just killing time. Even small inns in New York have friendlier staff. I booked a suite, but it didn't have a washing machine, so I had to use a regular deluxe room instead. That one had a washer, but no hangers to dry clothes on and no detergent. Why have a washing machine at all?

Everything was as it should be, and the rooms were very comfortable. It was handy having a little kitchen and a washing machine, plus convenience stores and a few small restaurants nearby. Good stuff, though beyond those spots I couldn't really tell where I was.

I wasn't expecting much given the urban location, but I was happy to find this level of class in the hotel. I really recommend it.

The building is new, the bed is large, and the room was clean. Right next door there's an Emart, a GS25, a 7-Eleven, and a Twosome Place café, though the coffee shop wasn't very tasty. There is also a park in Ochang, which helped a little with the otherwise dull surroundings. The location is among factories and industrial areas, and shops or cafés are a 20-minute walk away. I picked a suite with a mini kitchen and washer, but the cupboards had no dishes or utensils, so cooking wasn't possible. The washer can't dry clothes, and the nearest laundromat is also 20 minutes away. That meant I couldn't cook or do laundry, a big downside. The fitness center was another disappointment. It was just a small room with a few treadmills and a stationary bike, more like a storage closet than the actual gym I'd expected. The restaurant's confusing menu made little sense, and the staff barely spoke English, so ordering was difficult. The food was mediocre at best, and lunch was only available at the restaurant's strict designated meal times. Room cleaning happened inconsistently and often at random times. Staff frequently ignored the “Do Not Disturb” sign, and I had to leave while they cleaned.
