The only real drawbacks for me were the lack of a kitchen beyond one microwave and no elevator, and neither bothered me much. I stayed five nights and was extremely happy with the place. The location is excellent, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Sang Hee was especially great, sharing lots of travel tips. I’m glad I chose Empathy and would definitely consider staying there again when I’m back in Daegu.

Right in the main shopping area, this guest house is only a few minutes from transit, so getting around the city was easy. It’s small, but has a good range of amenities for a regular traveler. The reception staff were welcoming and accommodating to foreigners, and gave useful tips for exploring the city.

The shower leaves the toilet area flooded, and the windows’ curtains don’t block the light at all. There aren’t curtains around the beds either. Still, the place is clean and central, with a great living room, plus a washer and dryer.

Shared toilets and showers for the whole hostel are the one inconvenience, so make sure you’re comfortable with that. Otherwise, it’s a nice, clean guesthouse, the staff are helpful and pleasant, and breakfast is free.

The staff were friendly and it’s a decent place to stay. I did have a hot water problem on my first night, though, and had to change rooms so I could get a hot shower the next morning. Ensuite bathrooms have their pros and cons.
