Hera Hotel

The room was surprisingly quiet even though the window looked out toward the highway or main road. I found the bathroom spacious and easy to use. I couldn’t work out the bathtub jets, but the water was warm, pleasant, and ran well. The sheets were comfortable too. The fridge was small, though. Getting checked in took more effort than I expected because no staff spoke English, so I had to get by with my limited Korean. They upgraded me to a higher floor for free, which was nice. The key was an ordinary physical one, not a card, keycard, or door code, and I didn’t mind that. After taking off my shoes in the room, I couldn’t figure out why the lights and power were off until I noticed the key tag had to go in a wall slot. Nobody had explained that clearly. Even though I was the only foreigner with a booking, they called to ask my name again, which was annoying. The location is very convenient, and for a few nights in Daegu, I think it’s still worth the price.

It was clean and quiet, with friendly staff. The location was great, and the toilet had a Japanese-style bidet.

Our room was in pretty poor shape, and the keys they gave us on arrival were the wrong ones. The refrigerator didn’t work either. When my wife asked questions, the owner went on at her, so I raised my voice at the old man. The whole thing was quite uncomfortable.

Please be clear that this is a love hotel. I gave it 3 stars because they seem to be trying. Still, there was no bedcover, and one light stayed on even after I removed the key. The receptionist didn’t understand any English. When I arrived, water covered the bathroom floor, and the cleaning lady’s only response, via Google translate, was “cleaning complete.” I got out of there as fast as I could.
