Hotel Encore

The room was great, and I liked the included breakfast. Getting around as a tourist was less appealing: there’s a nearby bus stop, but service is irregular, and the closest regular stop is a 27-minute walk away.

The hotel is quite remote in Daegu, though I had a good stay for the few days I was there. Breakfast is free from 7 to 9 AM, and guests can use the washer and dryer on the second floor at no charge. These details were accurate as of February 2023. There’s a buffet restaurant called Maru about 60 meters from the hotel parking lot entrance. Go out through the parking garage and turn right. They serve lunch from 11:30 AM to 2 PM and dinner from 5:30 to 7 PM. There’s no menu, they serve whatever they’ve prepared. On my first visit, lunch was bibimbap and dinner was pork boiled pork. It cost 6,000 won, and the food was really good for that price. It seems to serve local workers. It’s open for lunch only on Saturday and closed Sunday. I highly recommend it. For buses, Dong-gu5 stops right in front of and across the street from the main entrance. Take the one across the street to head toward town. It comes about once an hour, with townbound buses arriving around 8:56 AM, 10 AM, and 11:04 AM. Jeongdong High School Front is a useful stop for connecting buses to several areas. Yulha Overpass1 is right by exit 5 of Yulha subway station on line 1. To get back, I found the easiest option was to get off at Yulha station, take exit 5, and catch a taxi. It cost 5,000 to 6,000 won. Dong-gu5 may also be an option, but I never figured out when it reaches Yulha Overpass1 in the evening.

The room had a Steam Clothing Care Styler, handy for sanitizing, deodorizing, drying, and smoothing coats, uniforms, or suits. There’s also a massage chair you can use anytime. The hotel was clean, cozy, quiet, and well prepared, with both Korean and American style breakfast. I’d definitely recommend it and stay again.

There’s really nothing within walking distance, and the place is far from everything. The in-room massage chair was the one thing we loved.
