Benikea Hotel Daelim

Good value, and the location is handy, with lots of restaurants around and plenty of buses very close by. The room was clean and spacious, but this place really needs updating. One mattress was like a plank, and the plug sockets were so hard to reach, honestly! The free breakfast was awful.

The staff were all very friendly, and the rooms were decent and clean. Breakfast was free because of renovation work at the hotel, but I couldn't hear any noise from it. There are plenty of convenience stores and places to eat nearby, and the Sky Tower walk is within walking distance. From Daejeon Station, take Metro line 1 from Exit 4 for one stop, then walk to the hotel.

The room was clean but tiny, with no closet, so hanging clothes was a challenge. Our double room had a queen-size bed that was very firm and good for our backs. There was a small refrigerator and an antibacterial box under a little desk. Breakfast was a quick American-style spread, toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, soup, and cabbage salad, but none of it had much taste. The surroundings weren't very pleasant, though the area felt safe and was well located for activities. A good budget hotel.

The second-floor restaurant felt homely, and the food was great. I liked their JapChae, a simple stir-fry of sweet potato flour noodles and vegetables, with lighter seasoning that still tasted good. The rooms and toilets were spacious, with basic bathroom necessities provided. The free European-style breakfast was just toast, scrambled eggs, mini sausages, simple salad, and soup. Street shopping is all within 1km, and there's an underground shopping area where you can find some gems. Check out Sung Sim Dang, the town's best bakery, with a wide range of breads to sample. It was a great stay overall.
