Gangneung Mint Cloud Pension

The bed was comfortable, and I finally got a good night’s sleep after several rough nights. I chose the place because its reviews were so positive, and the cleanliness lived up to them: the bedding, bathroom, kitchen, and shared kitchen were all spotless and looked barely used. The fridge was big enough to chill sparkling wine, parking was easy, and although there were lots of guests the day I stayed, I hardly ran into anyone. It’s set back from the sea in a quiet area that feels like a pension village. The room had a mirror but no vanity, so doing makeup meant sitting on the floor. It was so cold and hard that I had to drag over one of the two heavy chairs, which were uncomfortable to sit in. Watching TV meant sitting on a chair too, since the floor was too cold to lie down on. I booked the BBQ an hour ahead. They got it ready despite the heat, and it was in a private space, but even with the little ceiling fan on it was unbearably hot, so I brought a portable fan. That made it bearable. I was sorry the pool was still being prepared and couldn’t be used.

The owner looked after us well, and the place was clean and affordable. The first floor had all the cooking utensils and a refrigerator, plus a really spacious cafeteria. Thumbs up!

The rooms are tidy, and the BBQ area is nice and large. You can see the sea, though it isn’t right in front, and the hill makes things fairly quiet at night. If you’re lucky, you might run into the friendly cat Sukhee!!!

There wasn’t much else to complain about, but the bathroom felt awkward because this converted motel has an open layout, translucent glass, and no lock. Check-out is at 11 AM, so the schedule can feel tight.
