The entryway tile is very wide but dangerously slippery. Most of our parents slipped and fell there, so watch your footing if you stay. The elevators were painfully slow too, and we usually took the stairs instead. On the plus side, there are nice beach walks nearby, and having a hot spring sauna in the building was convenient. We came for New Year's with both sets of parents, my wife and I, and stayed in the Hotel Tops10 penthouse. The regular rooms had sold out because we booked late, so we paid a lot for the penthouse, but the space made it feel worthwhile. The lobby was packed with people in winter coats waiting to check in under a large neon Tops10 sign and Christmas wreath. Once we reached the room, though, it was incredibly relaxing. The layout suited six people well. A large living room with a big sofa and table sat between two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, giving both sets of parents privacy. There were herringbone wood floors and a small bar area with dark marble counters and a Nespresso machine. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and bedrooms looked out over the East Sea, so we watched the New Year's sunrise from inside. The bathroom also had a deep white freestanding tub right by the glass, facing the water. The all-glass walls made the room get incredibly hot in the daytime, even in winter. We had to crack the windows and draw the heavy gray curtains to deal with the sun's greenhouse effect.

The room felt dirty because it wasn't maintained well, and the furnishings were pretty bare bones. For the price they charged during the chuseok holidays, it was definitely overpriced. The ondol doesn't run until winter, so it can get cold in autumn.

My mother nearly slipped after stepping on feces in the hot spring area. It may have been left by a toddler, but it was extremely unpleasant and dangerous. For a hotel at this level, that was very disappointing. Staff need to pay much closer attention to hygiene, safety checks, and regular facility maintenance. A hot spring should be somewhere guests can relax, not have an experience like this. I hope the hotel takes it seriously and improves cleanliness and safety for future guests. This was our first stop on a week-long trip around Gangwon after I'd returned to Korea from a long time abroad. We arrived late in the afternoon. I was resting from jet lag while my mother went to use the hotel's on-site hot springs, and she told me what had happened when she came back.

The heated-floor room had almost no furniture, just a small tea table and two chairs like you'd see in a dadami-style Japanese restaurant. The gym had no towels or water dispenser, so bring your own. Breakfast was advertised from 7 to 10, but the food had run out by 9. The front desk warned us to arrive by 9 if we wanted to eat as much as the 35,000 Korean won price suggested. The main entrance says four stars, but to me this felt like a two-star hotel apart from the room size and the amenities at the location. Anyone visiting from overseas, please don't book here. It was a waste of money and precious time.

The views really were four or five stars, but everything else was two stars at best. There was a big, impressive lobby, but that didn't mean much when service was missing throughout the hotel. We often had to wait for someone to come to the concierge or another desk. When staff finally appeared, they rolled their eyes and treated us without enthusiasm. The facilities lacked quality and attention to detail. We stayed for two nights for a family reunion, and no one in our family felt any hospitality. We won't be back.
