The stay was comfortable and the hotel has lovely scenery, but after I got home I noticed I’d been charged twice for the swimming pool. Starting September 14, I contacted the hotel several times by email, through its website, and by phone. Staff replied, but kept repeating the same things, and nothing moved forward. They asked me for bank records and eventually told me to check with my credit card issuer. The follow-up took a lot of time and was frustrating. I think the hotel should handle billing problems more efficiently and give international guests clearer support, so visitors can focus on their vacation.

It isn’t even there yet. Another skyscraper, badly placed beside the beach, with a huge construction site in a spot that was otherwise pristine.

The service at Shilla Monogram Gangneung was some of the best I’ve had at five-star hotels around Korea. Bentley was especially kind, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the ocean views are stunning, and breakfast was very good. I’ll definitely stay again when I’m back in Gangneung.

A comfortable, elegant hotel, with several pools to choose from. None has dedicated lap lanes, though the 30m outdoor pool can work for laps if you pick your moment. There’s a nice range of dining options nearby, too.
