Skybay Hotel Gyeongpo

The hotel looked better in the photos. More importantly, both pools, the sauna, and all the restaurants except the bakery were closed, and nobody told us beforehand. We only found out after traveling 4.5 hours. We’d booked two nights but chose to leave after one. In the end, we had to pay almost 80% of the original two-night price for that single night. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it, since there are plenty of better options.

The room was filthy and noisy, and I barely slept. We were first put on the lowest floor, then moved to a room right beside the elevator when we asked for a higher one. There were blood stains on the towels, brown marks on the comforter, and so many bugs that we killed at least four huge ones. We paid extra on top of booking with Chase travel reward points, and the room was still awful. For that price, go somewhere else. Horrible experience, and I won't come back or recommend it.

We were glad the check-in was quick, especially arriving late and wanting to unwind. The staff, including the valet drivers, were warm and professional, and really went out of their way for us. Parking was free, fast, and well handled. Our room was spotless and spacious, with a lovely layout and a breathtaking view of Gyeongpo Lake. Housekeeping was incredibly quick and thorough. The lobby was clean and welcoming, and the hotel itself is beautiful. There are lots of facilities, including dining options, an arcade, a pool, and laundry service. We didn't use the laundry, so can't speak to that. We especially liked the tasty paninis and drinks at Twosome Place, the bakery on the main floor. We'd happily recommend a stay here when visiting the area.

The beach is right there, with beautiful ocean views. Modern rooms and a relaxed feel make it a refreshing place for a coastal getaway.
