I’ve never seen a pension handle safety so irresponsibly. With a heavy rain advisory, strong wind advisory, and high landslide risk on the day of my stay, roads all the way to Gapyeong were flooded and travel wasn’t realistically possible. Landslide warnings had been sounding since dawn, and all the strays at the Gapyeong pension were being washed away. I asked the pension to understand my request for a refund. I know same-day cancellations normally aren’t refundable, but the law provides for a full refund when a natural disaster makes travel or use of the facilities unavoidable. At first, the female owner told me to speak with the company I booked through and said a refund could be done. After I talked to the company, they said it was possible with the owners’ consent. When I called back for that consent, the male owner suddenly asked how they were supposed to make a living if I explained everything to them. He said 350,000 won wasn’t their fault and they had no intention of considering a compromise. They had nothing to offer. They told me, “Why are you doing this to us? Come see if there’s water overflowing on the way to Gapyeong.” They also said they’d take responsibility if I had an accident on the way. Lol. Would they take responsibility if someone died? Their attitude about safety was ridiculous. If you want to risk your life for a thrill, or like a pension that’s irresponsible about safety accidents, I recommend this place.

The rooms are small, but they’re clean. For a more charming stay, I’d choose a river-view room over one facing the forest. Couples might want to ask for an upgrade to a room with a bed. It’s also a good place for couples or group retreats.

There’s a spacious lecture hall that works well for workshops, and it’s a good spot for group retreats. In summer, you can do a range of water sports, and outdoor barbecue is available too.

It’s an older resort, and the big outdoor restaurant shows its age. The scenery is lovely, and the water sports look like they’d be fun in summer. Hot water is a little weak, though the heating works very well.
