Gapyeong Adonis Pension

The landscaping and the view are lovely, and it felt like hanging out in your own backyard. Along with a regular pension stay, you get an individual barbecue and bonfire, which feels current and was a big plus for me. I also liked that the barbecue uses charcoal, like at a meat restaurant. One downside: the grill is under a very bright landscape light when you have a bonfire, which makes the atmosphere less appealing. For the price, it felt worthwhile.

It’s nice that there’s a spa and a swimming pool to use, and being in a private house makes it quiet. The pension is old, though, and didn’t seem very clean.

I’d like to visit again for sure. Each private unit has its own fire pit, which you can use if you buy firewood, and that’s a nice difference from other pensions. I’d recommend it for couples or married couples. Just don’t plan to eat outdoors in winter, it’s freezing.

I came across this pretty pension after visiting the Morning Calm Arboretum in Gapyeong and stopped to ask about room rates, thinking I might stay next time. The cafe and management office were beautiful, with lots of woodburning works on display. The male owner, Adonis, has a woodburning instructor certification and said guests can try it or learn it there. The female owner knits and said visitors can try that or learn too. It seems like a nice way to make a memory instead of just coming to eat and drink. I got chatting with her about knitting and asked to see the pension, but it was being remodeled, so I couldn’t view the rooms and only took photos of the surroundings. They said reopening was planned for early August. I promised myself I’d definitely come back and try knitting. I’ll upload photos then~
