Gapyeong Terrace Pension

The room was bigger than expected, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, pool area, and an outdoor barbecue spot. We booked a room with a pool for three of us and had a good time, though honestly we mostly dipped in and took pictures. If you like being in the water, even just getting a tube is enough to enjoy it. It's up on the mountainside, so finding the way can be confusing. It might not look right, but it is. We stayed at Terrace Pension. Even off-season on a weekday, the facilities seemed great for the price.

There was plenty of room for the price, and I was surprised to see a urinal in the bathroom. The terrace was roomy and nice, too. The downside is the insects. It's right by a grassy area and flowing river, and mosquitoes bit me a lot while we were eating meat. Once it got dark, bugs gathered around the lights and we had to move farther inside. It was chilly at night near the end of summer, even without the air conditioner, so I imagine bugs could be a big problem in summer. Still, I was satisfied.

The owner was friendly, but the pension itself was quite dirty and seemed to need repairs. The TV didn't work, and the owner spent a while struggling with it. We stayed in the terrace room, so I can't speak for the others. Songbirds and crickets showed up often, so don't be startled.

I won't be going back. The pool water was only lukewarm, yet so cold I had to grit my teeth to get in. The next day I tried the lukewarm spa, but there wasn't any hot water there either, so I ended up washing my hair in cold water.
