Gochang Mer Pang Pension

I couldn't really enjoy everything at the accommodation because it felt like I was restricted by set amounts and times. I found the towels and kitchen equipment unhygienic, around 60 to 70 points for cleanliness. Using the charcoal, towels, terrace, toilet paper, and other things made me feel watched and checked up on, which was unpleasant. The duplex was very hot, and the clam digging area with lots of shellfish was far from the accommodation.

We spent two days grilling Gochang eels, shellfish we gathered ourselves, and even making kalguksu. The sea is just across from the pension, so it’s easy to go for a walk or collect shellfish, and there’s a shrimp farm nearby where you can buy shrimp to grill. The pension owner can also deliver eels if you ask. Each cottage stands on its own and has a parking space, which made unloading and settling in easy. We could barbecue on our private terrace, or use the shared barbecue area. The recycling area was clean, too. There’s no big supermarket close by, but you can drive a short way to pick up essentials. Gushipo Beach is nearby for swimming, with sashimi and grilled shellfish restaurants around it. There’s also a seafood center where you can get takeout and eat back at the pension. I hope this place doesn’t get too well known...

The mud flat right outside is full of clams, and they lend you tools for digging them. The facilities are average, but the location is good.

My parents loved this place, even though it took three and a half hours to get here from my home. I’d been a little nervous after reading complaints about the owner and the comforter, but my mom lay down and immediately said it was soft and nice. The owner was very kind too, dialect aside. Haha. I really wish we’d booked more than one night. Next time I’m planning to stay for two or three days.
