Motels in Korea are often cheap, under $60 a night or $20 for a three-hour room rental, but the quality and service can be poor and the staff may be impolite. So check carefully before deciding to stay. A brand-new motel can be nice for anyone, even couples on a date or having an affair. That’s a joke, but also true. Thanks for reading.

The owner was kind and did his best to help. He doesn’t speak English, but made a real effort to communicate with a translation app on his phone. For the price, I was satisfied. Just don’t expect the place to be on the level of a four- or five-star hotel.

It’s a decent place, though it’s showing its age. There’s a computer in the room, but it’s still a Pentium 4. Keep the door locked overnight: at 9:00 AM, the cleaning staff came in because they apparently thought the room was vacant.

Food is easy to find nearby, and the nightlife around Gwanju is great. The location works really well for a short stay.

The reception staff at sangmu's motel impressed me most. He was kind and honest, and even drove us to the metro station himself.
