The room was much bigger than I wanted, though most travelers might see that as a plus. If you like cozy spaces, you may find the size overwhelming. The computer wasn't very usable, but the TV and set top box setup was very satisfying, and there were several room options. It's a very clean hotel, more like a motel but without the same dodgy feel. Jungma Bus Terminal (Donggwangyang) is a 5-10 minute walk away, and it's right downtown, with lots of food choices and five convenience stores within walking distance. Breakfast is self-service from 7-9am daily, with a couple of cup noodle and porridge options, plus eggs. The coffee and water machine is available 24/7. The room came stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels and gowns, along with a welcome pack of facial masks, toothbrushes and even protection if you're planning to, ahem. I had a very satisfying stay. Walk-in rates seem more expensive.

The baths are amazing, like having your own little self-service spa in the middle of Gwangyang. They provide everything you need for a luxurious private spa session in your room.

The hot shower really helped me unwind, and the room has a lot going for it for the price. The floor pattern may catch you off guard when you walk in. They provide a hairdryer, curling iron, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and comb, plus single-use cotton swabs, coffee mix, lotion, toner, shaving foam and cleanser. There’s water, mango juice and corn silk tea too. Breakfast in the lobby includes cup noodles, rolls, egg sandwiches, baked eggs, coffee and snacks. Good, good.

The rooms are roomy and pleasant, and even a standard one comes with a bathtub. In the morning there are mini sandwiches and ramen, along with eggs, drinks and coffee. One thing to know: the karaoke room is on the 8th floor, and staying on the 7th can mean noise until midnight.

Breakfast at Nol Hotel was a little underwhelming, and I wish there were more options, maybe Jjajang Cup Ramen or cereal. A fuller spread could be a nice way to win guests over. Still, the cafe-style breakfast is good, the rooms are clean and well equipped, and I appreciate that they’re non-smoking. Parking seems somewhat limited. I’d like to come back to Nol Hotel, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Gwangyang.
