We found the hostel really handy for exploring Gyeongju. Traditional markets and the historic tomb sites were both an easy walk away. The rooms were basic, as you'd expect in a hostel, but very clean, and the staff and other guests we met were friendly and helpful. We also got a free beer voucher for the bar next door when we arrived. I'd happily recommend staying here.

The location is excellent, and breakfast is included, which we appreciated. I’ve stayed in worse hostels, so the place isn't all bad, but it felt more like a volunteer shared house than a hostel for travelers. There seemed to be more volunteers than guests, and when we arrived, the group barely acknowledged us. I felt out of place right away. The kitchen was dirty, and the rooms felt stuffy and moldy. Volunteers left their things all over the shared dining table, leaving no room to sit unless you moved their stuff. One person was doing her nails there, which was disgusting. The toilets looked clean at a glance, but didn't feel hygienic. I’ve used public toilets that were cleaner.

From the street, you might not expect much, but inside it feels welcoming and social. It's a great spot if you're hoping to meet people. With a bed, breakfast, and a drink included for the price, I'd definitely recommend it.

I spent most of the day out exploring, so the smaller-than-expected room didn't bother me. The location was fantastic, and I had a great stay. It was fun meeting people over a few drinks in the bar attached to the hostel, and I liked having breakfast with other travelers in the kitchen.

I volunteered here for a month, and there wasn't too much work. There were volunteers from different countries, so in many ways it was a good experience. But I’d think twice before coming. I made a mistake once and charged a guest the wrong amount. I wanted to fix it and return the money, but the refund instructions the boss had posted in our group were incorrect. I asked the guest to pay again. The boss later returned the first payment, but couldn't refund the second one, so he could only give the money back in cash. I understand he was angry, but he blamed me for making the mistake because I didn't want to work. I explained that my hearing isn't good and that I sometimes make mistakes, but he still accused me of being unwilling to work. He was very mean. He treated another Chinese volunteer badly too. She swapped shifts with someone once, then he questioned her as if she had missed a whole week of work and called her lazy, even though she'd done what she was supposed to. She's my friend, and I was angry about the way he treated her. I wanted to leave an honest review on Worldpackers, but found he'd blocked me. He told the platform I hadn't shown up, which I believe he made up because he was worried I’d post my real comments. On my first day, someone had told me the owner's temper could be good one moment and bad the next. At times, it felt like a little authority went to his head. I explained my side to him, but he didn't listen. If you decide to volunteer here, be aware that a mistake may be held against you.
