There’s plenty to do in Gyeongju beyond its historic center: hike the nearby hills, about five minutes from downtown, and you may come across Buddhist carvings and shrines along the way. The city also has a large water park and public and private sports facilities for year-round recreation. Along the coast, there’s a long pine-lined beach with a seawater spa. In the World Heritage-listed historic area, you’ll find rock carvings, tumuli, temples, and pagodas, as well as a history museum and folk village where you can shop for handicrafts. The area’s Shilla crafts and traditional dishes add to its appeal. Gyeongju is a popular destination in South Korea, known for its cultural history as well as mountain and coastal scenery. It was a little pricey, but we enjoyed our time there and the restaurant food.
The owner was really nice and even lent me cooking oil. My room was on the second floor, though, and it felt humid and smelled a little. Running the air conditioner on dehumidify helped, but the filter hadn't been replaced, so the smell came back.
The owner seems proud of the remodel. I don't have much else to say. The lack of reviews since the work was done kind of tells me why.
It's easy to get to Gyeongju World from here. The facilities are clean, and there's a swimming pool. You can rent an electric grill for 10,000 won or a charcoal one for 20,000 won.
