Gyeongju Victoria Diary

The room was clean and roomy, though the location felt a bit strange and there was a slight musty smell. I liked the jetted double spa tub, which costs 10,000 won per use, and the veranda barbecue grill, with charcoal costing an extra 20,000 won.

For a one-night stay, it wasn’t a major inconvenience. We could grill meat on the veranda, which was handy, though the smell came straight into the house. There’s an outdoor children’s pool right in front. I’m not sure where the indoor pool is, since we didn’t ask and there wasn’t any information about it.

I’ve been staying here for seven years. The facilities don’t compare with newer pensions, but the price is good. The big pool is really nice too, except for Kyorona.

The owner was friendly, the room was generally clean, and the mattress and cushions were comfortable. I would’ve liked a dining table where you can sit on the floor and eat. The polished tile floor kept shedding grime from between the tiles, so our feet got dirty. They only allow charcoal grills if you use one they set up, and it costs 15,000 won for two people. The pool is shared with other nearby pensions, but it’s 100 meters from ours. The water was warm, though it had a slight bleach smell.
